Gated Community Case Study
Situation:
A typical gated resort community includes upscale private homes, guardhouses, clubhouses and ancillary services. Most owners remain in residence for part of the year and derive income from tourist rentals during the remainder. Security and risk management are high priorities for both owners and management. A client in South Carolina contacted Security Solutions for an upgrade of guardhouse and clubhouse CCTV systems and access controls. The client sought higher-end components and support, and was focused on quality, not price.
Equipment & Services:
Security Solutions demonstrated the value of improved optics and of IP-based video and network architecture for networked video storage and remote access. We challenged current camera placement and won management endorsement of relocation and upgrade of equipment.
Results:
Three weeks after the installation, a renter drowned in the clubhouse pool after stopping by the bar. Investigation by the authorities and management relied heavily on the upgraded video system. Video images provided clarity and detail that conclusively exonerated the resort and its personnel of negligence. Within just one month, an investment of $40,000 yielded a return of $4–$5 million in expense avoidance.
