Situation:
New employee hires, transfers and separations resulted in a tremendous administrative burden and repeated locksmith expense of nearly $4 million per year for FootLocker stores. When the company reviewed their options, they found several. The only one that offered true unlimited rekeying and did not involve managing an inventory of changeable cores was U-Change Lock.
Equipment & Services:
Security Solutions created a program to install U-Change cylinders in FootLocker stores. Each location was also provided backup sets of change keys to be kept in an envelope in the store’s files and used when future turnover occurred. When locks are changed, the used keys are returned to U-Change by mail and a new replacement set is shipped to the store, for the next rekeying. This way, a change set is always available when needed.
Results:
At the end of the first year, a comparison was made of lock and locksmith expense for 12 months preceding and following the conversion. Within this period, costs plummeted from $4 million to $1million, a reduction of 75 percent.
